Political Correctness
Political correctness is aiding and abetting the advance of politically sensitive words, such as islamofascism. What exactly is “political correctness”?
Regarding Islamofascism; it is avoiding the truth and saying what is considered “acceptable” so as not to appear “intolerant.” It is motivated by many things, such as fear of rejection; fear of reprisals; fear of being called “intolerant;” fear of being called an “Islamophobe;” or just a lack of understanding and awareness of what Islamofascism is. Political correctness looks for every reason but the real ones to explain the growing threat of militant Islam. It generally takes on one or more of the following forms:
Excusing the actions of militant Muslims by citing so-called “root causes” (for example, “terrorists act that way because they are being discriminated against”). So, the message there is, every one of us who has ever been discriminated against now has the right to be a terrorist??
Rationalizing what terrorists do and creating a false moral equivalence by saying such things as “well, the Christians engaged in the Crusades!” So, the actions of some people nearly 1000 years ago justifies killing innocent women and children today?
Blaming America’s foreign policy (“militant Muslims would leave us alone if we just stopped supporting Israel”). The problem with this is the many inconvenient facts of history. For instance, militant Muslims were creating problems for America and terrorizing Americans 200 years ago – long before America was a world power and 150 years before the modern state of Israel came into existence.
Blaming “Western imperialism and colonialism.” The most obvious problem with this is that while Western colonialism has virtually disappeared, Islamic militancy and terrorism has dramatically increased.
